THE SECRET TO SUCCESS: START SOMEWHERE

Have you ever heard the saying, “If you don’t start somewhere, you’re gonna go nowhere” (Bob Marley)?

If you feel like you’ve just been slapped in the face by reality, you’re not the only one. This is a hard truth some of us struggle to digest at some stage in our lives, because it is confronting and daunting to step out of our comfort zone and pursue something new.

During our latest podcast episode, Instagram Specialist and Keynote Speaker Brooke Vulinovich shared her insight on this hard truth. This inspiring conversation got me thinking about what we really want to achieve as individuals and as a team. The most important take-away was to start somewhere. No matter how daunting that first step seems, just start. Start doing what you love. Start trying something new. Start making progress.

Even though the idea of failure may seem unbearable and terrifying, don’t let this discourage you from reaching your goals.

We know how daunting it is to try something new, having the feeling of nerves sit at the bottom of your stomach and endless thoughts ponder your mind. Starting our business Iceberg Media was a nerve racking experience. You can’t predict how things are going to go, so there’s a sense of uncertainty. But we wouldn’t have come this far if we didn’t make a start and encourage each other to do what we enjoy. For us, looking back on where we started and how far we have come is one of our proudest moments. We get to work we so many inspiring businesses and organisations like Ronald McDonald House Charities in our line of work. We are inspired everyday by these organisations and what they do. But some of our greatest moments are in fact seeing the satisfaction and happiness our customers experience when they see the finished product, especially our wedding couples.

Life is about giving things a go. And you never know what you can truly achieve until you put your mind to it and give it a try. Even if you fall down a couple of times, the only direction you can go is up. Learn from your mistakes and let these motivate you to grow and succeed.

Remember, the end is only as good as the journey. So whatever you start and pursue, make sure you’re having fun and enjoying each day as it comes :)
