TOP 4 THINGS TO BRIEF YOUR EVENT PHOTOGRAPHER
Imagine you are running an event. You’ve just hired a photographer. What do you need to do to ensure your event is well captured? You guessed it! You must brief your photographer of your event and make sure they understand the run sheet for the occasion. Here are a few things to discuss with your photographer to ensure you’re both on the same page.
Know the style and theme
It’s highly recommended to know what sort of style you are after for the event. You could show them examples photos from other events and inspiration to better communicate what your thinking. This will ensure your photographer takes and edits the photos accordingly and achieve the best outcome.
Communicate the event purpose and context
Your photographer should be up-to-date with the event purpose, who will be there, key things to take and where you want these images distributed. For instance, it may be for your website, social media or marketing collateral.
Provide a schedule of the day
One of the most important things for your photographer to know is what is happening when. For corporate events such as awards nights and EOY functions, you may have speeches, certificates or prizes given out which you would want captured by the photographer. So, make sure they are briefed to ensure your photographer captures every important moment.
Organise times and location
Be sure to clarify with your photographer the location, start and finish time, including if you want photos taken of the venue before guests arrive. Don’t forget, if there are changes in times, location or schedule of events, be sure to let the photographer know.
